Walt Disney World

With multiple resort options, four theme parks, two water parks many options for dining and recreation, Walt Disney World can seem overwhelming. Our experienced travel advisors will customize a vacation itinerary that will help you create memories to last a lifetime!

Accommodations

Walt Disney World has approximately 30 resorts; they can be broken down into three main categories: Deluxe, Moderate and Value. Each one has its own unique theme and personality.

These rooms are the largest, at 440-550 square feet, with two queen beds (some rooms have a pull-down bed to accommodate a fifth person), a separate double sink area adjacent to the bathroom and most offer a balcony. The deluxe category also has larger villa accommodations, such as one, two, and three bedroom suites. Rooms are accessed from an interior hallway. Deluxe resorts have multiple sit-down restaurants, superior amenities, lots of shopping opportunities, recreation such as boat rental, and lots of activities at the resort. Each Deluxe resort has a minimum of two pools, including a water slide and a hot tub. All Deluxe resorts are adjacent to one of the theme parks. As a special bonus, Deluxe guests are offered extended evening theme park hours.

The rooms are 314-375 square feet, with two queen beds (some also with a small pull-down bed). Rooms are accessed from an outside walkway. Most moderate resorts have a sit-down restaurant, a food court, upgraded amenities, a minimum of two pools, one of which has a water slide. The moderate resorts are not adjacent to a theme park and most transportation is by bus (Disney’s Caribbean Beach resort has the Skyliner gondola to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios). Moderate resorts bridge the gap between Value and Deluxe, with more amenities and space than a Value resort, but not as conveniently located and as well-appointed as the Disney Deluxe resorts.

These rooms are the smallest at 260 square feet, with two queen beds and a basic bathroom. Rooms are accessed from an outside walkway. All value resorts have a minimum of two pools and a food court. Some value resorts offer a family suite, which can accommodate up to six people in a room. Value resorts are furthest from the parks and offer the least amenities and services, but are a clean, safe, and comfortable place to sleep when your trip is theme park focused.

BENEFITS OF Staying onsite

There are many advantages to staying onsite at a Walt Disney World resort and being immersed in Disney magic 24/7.

Each day, all 4 theme parks are open 30 minutes early for resort guests allowing you to get a jump on those arriving from offsite locations. Evening Extended Theme Park Hours are a perk for guests staying in the deluxe resorts allowing them to stay 2 extra hours at certain parks on certain nights.

Disney resort guests have early access to reserve the most popular attraction in each park with the Individual Lightning Lane selection, making skipping the regular queue for these attractions difficult for those staying offsite.

Staying onsite provides complimentary transportation all over Walt Disney World by buses, boats, skyliner/ gondola, and the monorail. Transportation runs frequently all day long.

Being in close proximity to the theme parks allows you to easily go back to your room for a mid-day break (and nap) if needed.

Another great benefit that comes with staying onsite is when you purchase something it can be sent to your resort, avoiding the need to carry it around the parks. *This service is currently paused.

Only Walt Disney Resort guests are eligible for the Disney Dining Plan (see Dining section). *This service is available for check-ins beginning January 9th, 2024.

If you stay at an onsite resort, parking is free at all four theme parks.

PARKS & Entertainment

Walt Disney World is roughly the size of the city of Vancouver or San Francisco! Located within this vast property are four theme parks, two water parks, two shopping/entertainment areas, and plenty of recreation areas (golf, boating, horseback riding, and so much more!)

We help our guests plan their trips to make the very most of their time and use our extensive experience to make sure you experience the most magic possible!

Perhaps the most iconic park in the world, Magic Kingdom is all about fairy tales, fantasy, and getting lost in the magic. This park is the No. 1 must-do at Walt Disney World, with its dozens of attractions and shows (for all ages — even infants!). The Festival of Fantasy parade, four roller-coasters, surprises around every corner, and the amazing Happily Ever After fireworks show to end your day.

Epcot consists of four areas: World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature, and World Showcase. World Celebration/Discovery/Nature is the home of popular attractions, like Test Track, Mission Space (with a new and improved tamer version), Soarin’, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (one of the largest indoor roller coasters in the world). World Showcase consists of 11 countries surrounding a beautiful lagoon. You can walk from country to country, enjoying the architecture, cultural displays, performances, food, attractions (Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure), shopping for unique goods from each country, and more. Be sure to finish your day with Epcot’s newest fireworks show, Luminous – The Symphony of Us.

This park has wonderful, immersive theming that transports you to Africa, Asia, and the world of Pandora, based on the movie Avatar. Go out on safari and see free-roaming African animals. Enjoy a world-class stage show featuring our favourite Lion King and Finding Nemo characters. Take a river ride through a bio-luminescent forest, or fly on the back of a banshee! If you dare, face the yeti on the Expedition Everest, the tallest roller coaster at Walt Disney World.

Show-biz comes to life at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, focusing on stage shows, musicals, and thrills. It is home to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which truly feels like you are immersed in a galaxy far, far away. You can pilot the Millennium Falcon, and immerse yourself in their headliner attraction, Rise of the Resistance.

Toy Story Land is home to Slinky Dog Dash, Aliens Swirling Saucers, and the classic Toy Story Midway Mania. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a charming adventure for the whole family, and the first attraction to star Mickey and Minnie! This park has the more extreme attractions: Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller coaster starring Aerosmith (0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds!) and is very popular among older kids.

Experience the extravagant nighttime show Fantasmic. With thrilling special effects, amazing stunts, and a star-studded cast of your favourite Disney characters, this is a show you won’t want to miss!

There are two waterparks:

Typhoon Lagoon, which has a laid back, tropical atmosphere with a huge wave pool and a variety of waterslides.

Blizzard Beach is a ski hill melting in the Florida sun and has something for everyone, from a toddler and children’s area, to the most extreme waterslides. Both are circled by a lazy river where you can just float the day away. *Blizzard Beach is currently closed however Typhoon Lagoon is open.

Formerly called Downtown Disney, this area has unique specialty shops, as well as options to dine at some celebrity chef’s restaurants (Wolfgang Puck, Rick Bayless, Guy Fieri, Art Smith, Masahara Morimoto). Grab a meal or a snack, wander the shops, and soak up the atmosphere!

DINING

Walt Disney World has hundreds of restaurants, serving items ranging from burgers to escargot. There is most definitely something for everyone. Whether you prefer meals with the characters, traditional pizzerias, comfort food, exciting ethnic dishes or gourmet haute cuisine, Disney has it. Our Pixie Dust Holidays advisors have eaten in every restaurant and can help you choose the very best experiences for your family.

Restaurants are divided into two categories: Quick Service and Table Service:

Food is generally ordered at a counter or podium and brought to your seat on a tray, like a fast food restaurant. Ordering in advance through mobile order makes the process to get your food quick and easy. Food can range from a hot dog to gourmet salads, protein bowls, and much more.

Restaurants are sit-down meals where you are seated at a specific table and assigned a server that places your order. Table service restaurants can be buffet, family style (where the food is brought to your table in refillable family sized portions), or can be sit-down à la carte menu service. From menus suited to the most picky eaters to gourmet dining at a celebrity chef’s restaurant to central Florida’s only CAA/AAA five-star tasting menu fine dining restaurant, Walt Disney World has it all!

Disney has a massive array of both sweet and savoury snacks. Some quick-service restaurants will allow you to order certain side orders, drinks or desserts as a snack, while other snacks can be found in the carts, shops, and stands throughout the parks. Pixie Dust Holidays advisors have eaten all the snacks and can make recommendations for the best options in each theme park!

Most table service restaurants use one credit from the Disney Dining Plan (see Dining Plan below). This includes almost all character meals, buffets, family-style meals, à la carte table service restaurants, and the Fantasmic Dining Package.

There are some dining experiences that require two credits from the Dining Plan. These fall into three categories: Gourmet restaurants (such as California Grill and Le Cellier), Dinner shows (such as Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue), and the unique experience of eating inside Cinderella’s castle in Magic Kingdom at Cinderella’s Royal Table.

DISNEY DINING PLAN *available for check-ins beginning january 9th, 2024

Only guests staying onsite have access to the Dining Plans. These plans give you a certain amount of credits that are combined for the duration of your stay. Our Pixie Dust Holidays advisors love the dining plans! The plans are so convenient — your meal budget is taken care of in advance, and your trip feels like an all-inclusive instead of reaching into your wallet every time somebody wants ice cream.

There are two main Dining Plans:

This plan gives you two quick-service meals and one snack per person per day, plus one refillable travel mug per person. Your quick-service meal includes an entree and a drink (including alcoholic beverages at participating locations).

This plan gives you one quick-service, one table service, and one snack per person per day, plus one refillable travel mug per person. This will give you an entree and dessert or a buffet meal at the table service meals and a quick service meal, as well as a beverage at each meal (including the option of a specialty drinks such as beer, wine, a cocktail, smoothie etc.).

This is the most popular dining plan and the one we recommend the most, especially for those travelling with families who would like to take advantage of meeting characters during their meal to save time waiting in line in the parks. Many people enjoy having a break in their day to sit down, enjoy the air conditioning, and decompress from the parks.

Dad with daughter at Disney dining

"We just got back from our eight-day vacation from Disney World. I must say, I didn’t expect to have so much fun. We were well prepared because of all the information they’ve given us and all our questions had been answered by Julie and Jen. All pre-booked fast passes and restaurants. Our daughter could not be any happier meeting all the characters and Princesses (me too). We are very pleased with your service and surely will use you again for our next Disney trip. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.
